St. Louis (AP) - Outfielder Rick Ankiel is in agreement on a $3.25 million deal with the Royals, SI.com has learned.

The contract also includes $500,000 in performance bonuses and a mutual option for $6 million that can be declined by either side.

The pitcher-turned-outfielder batted .231 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs in 122 games with the Cardinals last season. He also has one of the National League's strongest throwing arms among outfielders.
